What is Conjunction? Conjunction with example.
Conjunction:
যে Word দুটি শব্দ, বাক্য বা বাক্যংশকে যুক্ত করে তাকে Conjunction বলে ।
যেমন :
i. Jamal is poor but honest.
জামাল গরিব কিন্তু সৎ।
ii. Tina and Rabi are two brothers.
টিনা এবং রবি দুই ভাই।
iii. Asma and Alima are two sisters.
আসমা এবং আলিমা দুই বোন।
iv. I shall wait here until you come back.
তুমি এখানে না আসা পর্যন্ত আমি অপেক্ষা করবো।
v. Do or die.
কর না হয় মরো
vi. Razu or Rosy is guilty.
রাজু না হয় রজি অপরাধী।
Note :এখানে but. and, until এবং or হল Conjunction. এগুলো দুটি বাক্য এবং বাক্যাংশকে যুক্ত করেছে।
How many types of Conjunction with example.
কনজানশন এর প্রকারভেদ :
কনজানশন তিন প্রকার: যথাঃ-
1.Coordinating
2.Subordinating
3.Correlative
Coordinating:
যে conjunction একইরকম ব্যাকরণগত কাঠামো সম্পন্ন words, phrases or clauses যুক্ত করে তাকে coordinating conjunction বলে । একে coordinator ও বলা হয় । যেমনঃ and, or, but, nor, for, yet, so, etc.
i. I will buy a pen and a book. (Joining two words)
আমি একটি কলম এবং বই কিনবো।
ii. You can find him in the library or in the classroom. (Joining two phrases)
তুমি তাকে লাইব্রেরি অথবা ক্লাসে পেতে পারো।
iii. She is poor, yet she is happy. (Joining two clauses)
সে গরিব তবুও সুখী।
Subordinating:
যে conjunction একটি subordinate/dependent clause কে একটি main/independent clause এর সাথে যুক্ত করে তাকে subordinating conjunction বলে । যেমনঃ since, once, till, when, where, although, after, no matter how, while, provided that, etc.
Examples:
i. We went to the garden where we saw different kinds of roses.
আমরা বাগানে গেলাম সেখানে আমরা বিভিন্ন ধরনের গোলাপ দেখতে পেলাম।
ii. Although she was ill, she came to the class.
যদিও সে অসুস্থ, সে ক্লাসে এলো।
iii. You will get a chance to play on the team provided that you practice hard.
কঠোর চর্চা করলে তুমি খেলায় সুযোগ পাবে।
Correlative :
জোড়া শব্দ যেগুলো বিপরীতার্থক বা পরিপূরক সম্পর্কযুক্ত words, phrases বা clauses কে যুক্ত করে তাদেরকে correlative conjunction বলে।যেমনঃ Whether…or, not only…but also, either…or, neither…nor, both…and, are some common correlative conjunctions.
Examples:
i. I will travel either by bus or by air.
আমি বাস নতুবা বিমানে ভ্রমণ করবো।
ii. Neither you nor I will go there.
তুমি না হয় আমি সেখানে যাবো।
iii. Both red and green are my favorite colors.
লাল এবং সবুজ দুটোই আমার প্রিয় রং।
